I just wanted to thank John for organizing the AERE sessions at the SEAs, they were uniformly interesting and engaging; and full of great people. I'm already planning on New Orleans.
I was warned that one leaves the AERE sessions at one's peril. I didn't listen and saw an okay session and a terrible session. In the latter, there were two discussants for four papers. Of these four, they received two in time to review, one the night before, and one not at all. I got a lot more out of the audience discussion (sans formal discussants) in the AERE sessions.
Finally, John said in the "Top Tips" panel that something along the lines of draft blog posts being final blog posts, so I'm going to put some effort into getting some posts out of the draft folder.
