For those of you who have never heard me speak...
Observations:
1) The first paper I ever wrote in college (at the University of Maryland, Ballmer Counny), for my freshman writing class, was titled "How 'Bout Dem O's." It was an argumentative/persuasive piece about why the Orioles sucked in the early 1990's (lack of development and investment in the farm system). Our professor was a diehard Orioles fan. I learned the #1 lesson in being a student--give the professor what she wants. I got an A+ on the paper. And we didn't even have a +/- system.
2) I talk like the banker when in Ohio, but the customer when I travel back to Maryland. I can turn it on or off on command--Mom grew up in inner city Ballmer, Dad grew up in rural Indiana. This video is an almost perfect depiction of my Maryland family.
3) I never thought I had an accent until I moved to North Carolina. I remember during my interview at East Carolina University one of the faculty members asking me "You're from Baltimore, aren't you?"
