Columbia Gas of Ohio is asking customers to reduce natural gas use over the next few days to help prevent the unlikely possibility of a gas shortage in the utility’s system during a period of expected frigid weather.
“Customers who reduce their natural gas use this week will do two very important things,” Columbia President Jack Partridge said in a statement. “They will help ensure that adequate supplies are available for everybody, and they can help manage their heating bills during what is expected to be a period of extremely high natural gas consumption.”
As of this morning, Columbia’s gas supply is enough to meet its customers needs, said spokeswoman Shana Eiselstein. The utility will be closely monitoring the system as temperatures drop and gas consumption increases.
“The conservation measures we outlined are simple things we can do to make sure we don’t any capacity issues on our system,” she said.

While I know there is sense behind the logic, still seems illogical.
