From the inbox, from my Congresswomen's email newsletter:
Is the bill that passed Congress the one I would have picked? Absolutely not. I wanted more spending cuts and a stronger commitment to a balanced budget amendment.

Hello,
Thanks for your recent email explaining your views on the debt crisis.
I'm interested in the balanced budget amendment but don't see how that can be accomplished without raising taxes. Could you try to explain that to me? In particular, which budget cuts would you support to bring spending down to equal revenues during a recession.
It seems much more realistic to balance the budget over the business cycle. In other words running a deficit during recessions and spending less than revenues during periods of economic growth. Otherwise, spending cuts could be very difficult to make when revenues are low during a recession and unnecessarily high during periods of economic growth.
Thanks!
I'm hoping for a reply.
