Oh, the perils of blogging based on news blurbs: sometimes I miss the nuance of the full story. Following up on yesterday's price gouging rant, it turns out that the underlying dispute over high gas prices on a New York highway is really a contract dispute over city land rights and the cost of running a gas station on rented city land--not just people too stupid choose not to pay the higher prices.
But that doesn't change my basic point: If you don't like high gas prices, Drive Less!
Unless of course you are too busy (oblivious?) to notice the gas price before you fill up, and you are caught off guard by the $60 charge to fill the tank. In that case, I will point to the Darwinian principles of market survival and just say "D'oh." Markets have a funny way of rewarding the astute and weeding out those not paying attention.
