First the math whiz, now this?
Police continue to investigate an arson case at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus involving a longtime professor of mathematics.
David Bleecker, 61, was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly setting fire to his office door in the Physical Science Building just after 2:30 p.m.
...Bleecker is a tenured professor who has been at U.H. Manoa for nearly 36 years. Although considered a brilliant mathematical mind, Bleecker was relieved of his teaching duties last semester after displaying odd behavior. University officials refused to specify what led to his suspension, citing privacy concerns.
