More on Rankings of PhD programs in Agricultural and Resource Economics

Here is another view of the NRC overall rankings in Ag & Resource Economics.  While the first thing we notice is the rather different rankings of Ohio State, that is hardly the only problem.  The R and S rankings lists...include...a total of 10 universities ranked in the top-10 in one list but not the other.  If we add the rankings in both lists for each university to get a total score, and rank-order them (like golf, lower is better) we get:

1. California- Berkeley
2. California-Davis
3. Maryland
4. Ohio State
5. Wisconsin

This list looks entirely credible to me.

I still prefer the R-ranking.
