Dear Prof John Whitehead:We are sorry to have to inform you that your paper A REVEALED AND STATED PREFERENCE MODE-PARTICIPATION MODEL TO VALUE BAG LIMITS IN THE NORTH CAROLINA FOR-HIRE FISHERY (Reference No: 1423) submitted for the 4th World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists has not been selected for inclusion in the program. We have received more than 1700 submissions and the selection process has been extremely competitive.
Reading between the lines: You, sir, are an idiot.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide grades or comments on your paper, as all evaluations by the program committee members must be held in strict confidence.
Reading between the lines: However, we can tell you that your paper was especially crappy, not even worthy of entry into the poster session which we reserved for the routinely crappy papers (those that we didn't feel were worthy of the spoken word and powerpoint slides).
We thank you for submitting your paper and hope that you will nonetheless want to attend the WCERE in Montreal, June 28 - July 2, 2010.
Reading between the lines: However, we are still happy to accept your $700+ registration fee, and you may feel free to take a seat in the back of the sessions where your simplistic thoughts won't contaminate the proceedings.
It is during times like these, when you face rejection and disappointment, when one's true character is given a chance to be revealed. Do you stay face down on the mat, after a stunning blow? Or do you rise up and vow to do better?
Me? I think I'll be a baby about it:
I didn't want to go to Montreal anyway.
