As my thoughts go out to the victims and their families of the University of Alabama-Huntsville faculty shootings, I can't help but give a knowing nod to this line describing the suspect:
...[they] described her as a normal person, perhaps a little quirky but no more so than most scientists.
Quirky in academia is normal.
