I'm the editor of NewSoutherner.com, a quarterly e-zine dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency, environmentalism and local economies. We're highlighting mountaintop removal mining next month, and I'm looking for an economist to interview who can speak to the pros and cons ... of the Appalachian coal economy. ... I'm writing to see if you'd be interested in serving as the subject matter expert. ... These would be questions such as, How do you think coal liquification/gasification will help or hurt the Appalachian community? The questions and answers would be run verbatim, Q&A style format, as a sidebar to the larger feature on MTR. Our goal with this is to get people thinking about sustainability issues.
I just finished answering the questions and submitting my answers. There are seven questions and the piece ought to run in seven days. So, as a service to env-econ readers (I know that you love our services), I'll trickle this out one day at a time in anticipation of the larger feature on mountaintop removal at NewSoutherner.com.
Stay tuned ...
