Our systems group will be doing some much needed hardware upgrades during fall break. Email and AppalNET migration to these new servers will be from Wednesday, October 10th, 5 p.m. - Friday, October 12th. On Wednesday evening, October 10th, it is likely that all IT services on campus will be down. All services other than email and AppalNET will be available by Thursday, Oct 11th at 8 a.m.
During the Fall break, we need to take advantage of this down time to do a critical update to email services and the AppalNET portal. Due to the migration requirements, it will be necessary to take down email access for the duration of the process. Our testing of the migration indicates this process could run between 36 and 48 hours, but we will make every effort to restore the service as soon as possible. During this period, you will unable to access your email. All emails sent to your appstate account during this downtime will be held until the transition to the new servers has completed and then delivered, so nothing will be lost.
