Apparently when it's not big enough for invasive insects to prey on it. Last week, the Ohio Department of Agriculture Forest Service announced that the state's 3.9 billion (yes with a 'b') Ash trees were endangered from the voracious Emerald Ash Borer. That number was too big by about 3.6 billion. The real number of endangered trees is about 254 Million (with an M). The difference? The 3.9 billion number counted seedlings--which apparently there are a lot of. The Ash Borer typically only invades trees greater than 1 inch in diameter. That's the 253 million.
