The North Carolina coast got blasted from a non-Nor'easter, non-Tropical Storm. NC 12 is closed:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says that a major stretch of Highway 12, the main route south on the Outer Banks, is closed and will remain so into at least Tuesday.
Authorities are stopping traffic at the North end of the Oregon Inlet Bridge. Hwy 12 is closed from the South end of the bridge to Rodanthe.
This ought to increase the drumbeat for a new Bonner Bridge. My advice is to not build a house on sand (or a steep slope but that is another post). Check out the pictures here.
