During the ASSA Annual Meeting, the AERE conducts its own business meeting during a luncheon. I was happy to attend this year and enjoyed my $57.50 halibut. The highlight of the business meeting is always the awards and this year there were plenty.
The AERE Nobel Prize (i.e., the Publication of Enduring Quality Award) is shared by:
- H. Scott Gordon, The Economic Theory of a Common-Property Resource: The Fishery, The Journal of Political Economy, Vol. 62, No. 2., Apr., 1954, pp. 124-142. [PDF at JSTOR]
- Anthony Scott, The Fishery: The Objectives of Sole Ownership, The Journal of Political Economy, Vol. 63, No. 2., Apr., 1955. [PDF at JSTOR]
Congratulations!
The second round of awards was for AERE fellows, those who "have demonstrated a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession of environmental and resource economics." This year the AERE fellows are:
- Richard C. Bishop
- Nancy E. Bockstael
- Ronald G. Cummings
- Anthony (Tony) C. Fisher
- Geoffrey M. Heal
- Clifford S. (Cliff) Russell
Congratulations! The links above are the Google Scholar searches. Details on their contributions is forthcoming on the AERE web page.
Also announced (again) was the Petry Prize. Congratulations!
