All of the hick economists (i.e., mostly those with some sort of tie to southern schools) will be in Charleston, SC from Saturday through Tuesday at the Southern Economic Association Annual Meetings. I can be found mostly attending the AERE-sponsored sessions on Sunday and Monday. There are 6 of these, click the schedule in the navigation bar to check them out.
A few years ago a visionary (blush) somehow convinced the AERE Board of Directors to allow individual AERE members to organize sessions at regional economics meetings (as long as the regular AERE program committee gave the OK to the sessions). We've been doing this at the SEAs for a few years now and, blush, I think the sessions are high quality and reflect well upon AERE for providing this service to its members.
I'm also presenting 2.5 papers (the .5 is in an AERE session) and discussing 2 papers (discussants read a paper and offer some pithy comments, a little like blogging). Here is my full schedule. Maybe I'm most excited about presenting "Joint Estimation of Averting Expenditures and Willingness to Pay for Improved Water Services in Kathmandu Valley" (with Subrendu Pattanayek). In this paper we combine and jointly estimate willingness to pay and averting behavior data in a random utility model framework. As far as I can tell no one has done this before (later today I'm sure I'll find several comments that correct me on this).
