I'm off for a week to Maryland and Delaware to visit family. Unfortunately the Orioles are out of town while we're in Baltimore, but I will get to go to a Ravens preseason game tonight--I'm not really a Ravens fan, but my brother has season tickets.
According to my calculations, the trip will be about 1100 miles total. Driving in the big SUV, with air conditioner on high of course, we'll get around 17 mpg. At $3.00 per gallon, we're looking at $193.59 in gas. Let's see...if we had a smaller car that could carry the 5 of us and our luggage, we might be able to get 25 mpg. That would be about $132 in gas. So we're spending an extra $61.59 to drive in spacious comfort for 16 hours and not have to listen to the kids yelling "Dad, he's touching me!" That's worth $3.85 an hour to me.
I'll try to post periodically because I know how rowdy y'all get when you don't have me to use as a punching bag for a couple of days and I don't want you to take it out on John--he can be a little sensitive.
