Can't we just let Groundhog Day be about the groundhog? Does every holiday have to be a reason to lobby a cause?
Dozens of groups, including the National Environmental Trust, are using the [Punxsuatawney Phil--aka the weather forecasting groundhog] frenzy to push their causes. The Trust said it's sending somebody in a groundhog suit who will ignore his shadow and instead rely on what it said is "global warming evidence" to forecast an early spring.
Sheesh. Oh and by the way, Phil saw his shadow. So that means six more weeks of winter. Today's forecast in Columbus, Ohio: Mostly sunny and 48 with a chance of rain (of course) later today. Hmmm..maybe there's something to this global warming thing afterall.
