A lesson in average and marginal

From a text conversation with the Official Second-Oldest Daughter of Env-Econ (OSODEE)--who is struggling to understand Romeo and Juliet:

OSODEE: "90% on my timed writing in English today."

ME: "Not bad."

OSODEE: "Yeah but it didn't move my grade any."

Me: "When the grade is the same as the average, the average won't move."

OSODEE: "I know father."
