I tried it as well, and there were some search terms with zero results on Cuil that Google had 10+ pages of results.

Snap.

Zero results for my name as opposed to 233,000 for Google.

zero odograph.

Are they capturing queries? Maybe it's a hoax.

search for "fish" returns an interesting result. it isn't complete but it is nice looking, and maybe good browsing.

I did three test searches and found far less useful information than with Google. I won't try cuil again. Why did they bother?

I am tracking with you. I have posted a lengthy blog entry on my findings (tinyurl.com/5kvlsy). I would say thumbs down for now. Hope they can get it together, but I am sticking with Google for the time being.

Tried it, results returned in about 3 min..
and "no results found" as per google's 10+ pages also.

Sounds like a premature launch. I hate when that happens.

i tried it this morning....

"climate change"

Nothing found,check your spelling

Yet, if you do global warming..you see climate change in one of the headlines.

what fives?

Cuil is so not cool!!!

When you use cuil.com for a search, if you put a period in the name...such as Dr., it will not go through!!!

Super lame!!!

Long live Google!!!

Lots of love,

One day out of the gates and people are already making judgments. Environmental Economics returns, climate change returns and odograph returns as well. As economists you should encourage competition rather than ignore it, and by saying, "I did three test searches and found far less useful information than with Google. I won't try cuil again. Why did they bother?" you are limiting your options and therefore inhibiting the free market.

Daniel,

I was just making a joke that nothing showed up. I've made no judgement...yet.

Tim

Daniel, I thought my 11:07 was harsh, so I tried again and posted the more generous 11:09 comment.

I feel like it might be a nice engine for browsing a topic ... but I'm not sure I'll ever return. It probably is fair to say that, still, google sets a high bar.

(BTW, there's a hiccup in the comment system ... preview then post works much better than post alone.)

Totally not cool that cuil try out... try again!
