The Board of Directors of the North American Association of Fisheries Economists (NAAFE), and the conference organizers, welcome academics, government representatives, industry members, and others with an interest in the economics of fisheries management, aquaculture and seafood trade, to participate in our 5th biennial conference, NAAFE Forum 2009.
The 5th NAAFE Forum will be held in Newport, Rhode Island, May 17-20, 2009. Organized by Jon G Sutinen and James L Anderson of the University of Rhode Island, the 2009 Forum will consist of 2 1/2 days of plenary and concurrent sessions. Registration and an opening reception will take place on Sunday evening, May 17; formal sessions will begin Monday morning and continue through Wednesday noon, May 20, followed by a field trip in the afternoon and evening.
Keynote speakers will include Lee G Anderson, President of NAAFE, and Francis T Christy, Jr, who 35 years ago presented his seminal paper on individual fishing quotas to the Law of the Sea Institute at the University of Rhode Island.
