Curiouser and curiouser

The gas-tax holiday has emerged as one of the most contentious issues of the race, with Mr. Obama calling the proposal a gimmick that would deplete a fund to build and repair bridges and roads and would cost thousands of jobs. Not so, Mrs. Clinton has said, suggesting to voters that Mr. Obama opposes extending them a break. Analysts estimate the plan would save drivers 30 cents a day.

This whole thing seemed so ridiculous as to be quickly dismissed. I can see McCain doing this out of ignorance or whatever, but clinton chiming in is just bizarre. I'd expect her to realize she'd be called an idiot and not given any excuses of senility or ignorance and just let it go.

but clinton chiming in is just bizarre.

Tax cuts are popular...even small ones.

Obama's response is interesting....how are 1000's of jobs lost due to a tax cut?

Oh he must mean government jobs....but if the money does not go to the government where does that money go if not to pay for private sector goods and services...goods and services presumably with jobs associated with them.

It looks like Clinton is pandering to people who want to choose where their money is spent while Obama is pandering to people who get payed when the government tells other people where their money is spent.

Read today that our oil use is down 2.7% compared to last year. That comes out to 556,000 barrels per day. Now, we're importing about 400k barrels per day less from Mexico because Cantarell is in a steep decline. This might explain why we've still managed to increase oil supplies 13 out of 16 weeks this year. Oil hit $120.36 today, but didn't close over $120. Hybrids are now 3.2% of new cars sold while small cars are now 1 in 5 sold.

Major sea change, here.
