ECO 3660. Benefit-Cost Analysis
I'm getting so excited about the fall semester (sarc)! I just posted my syllabus for a shiny new course at Appalachian State University:
http://www.appstate.edu/~whiteheadjc/ECO3660/Fall07/index.htm
As I was typing it up I couldn't help but hum the tune that accompanies the lyrics that everyone, [pause for emphasis] everyone, associates with my teaching (sarc):
Who can turn the world on with her smile
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile
...
Benefit-cost analysis replaces my normal Fall semester course of Environmental Economics. But don't fret, I won't stray too far from BCA of environmental projects, programs and regs.
Note: I like to call it benefit-cost analysis instead of cost-benefit analysis because the best summary of benefits and costs is the net benefit equation: NB = B - C. Only dorks subtract benefits from costs. Sheesh.

Are you saying that there is a subcategory of economists called "dorks"? Pot, meet kettle. (-:

I like subtracting benefits from costs; there's nothing like that brief moment when you see that large, positive number...
Oh, you mean for PROJECTIONS...

Bring back the memories of my business school days. Went to a very analytical and financial driven program. Wish I learned about the social discount rate. Would you post your lecture on YouTube?
Love your blog and included your post in our weekly roundup:
